Leo Ammerlaan bv and corporate social responsibility
Sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) are important themes in the Dutch horticulture sector. We take this responsibility seriously in our modern plant nursery. In addition to our concern for the environment, Leo Ammerlaan bv takes it a step further. In all our business activities in our modern plant nursery we have concern for people, society and the environment, both within and outside of the Dutch horticulture sector. This is apparent at Leo Ammerlaan bv from the various environmental measures taken, such as reduced CO2 emissions, geothermal energy extraction, cultivation under SKAL and MPS certification (control authorities for the inspection and certification of organic companies in the Netherlands). But our modern plant nursery also pays attention to a sustainable personnel policy and to local and social involvement.
Modern plant nursery at the heart of society
The local involvement of Leo Ammerlaan bv is great. We feel connected with the local community and are pleased to contribute to this. This contribution goes beyond the Dutch horticulture sector. We offer support to Hospice Lansingerland, for example, and provide various schools with plants for their school gardens. During our annual Leo Ammerlaan Run we open up our greenhouses to the public to acquaint them with our modern plant nursery. The runners and their spectators will become acquainted with a modern plant nursery in the Dutch horticulture sector in a sporting way. The proceeds of this run will go to various good causes.
Our involvement with society goes beyond our own community. We also support the Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM), Alpe d’HuZes and Baobab Kids. The entire company feels a sense of commitment with all the good causes that we support. We invite each employee of Leo Ammerlaan bv to contribute initiatives that deserve our support.
Each year, Leo Ammerlaan bv sponsors a large number of sports clubs and sports events in the region. Furthermore, our company participates in various activities within and outside the Dutch horticulture sector, of which the proceeds go to good causes. We organise, for example, the annual summer flower market for our customers and the Leo Ammerlaan Run. Over the past 25 years we have also provided the summer flowers for the local market of the Lions Clubs from the surrounding municipalities.
